Photoshoot & Sourcing Policy

We love collaborating with creatives, stylists, and publications, and we are genuinely grateful for the beautiful work our community has produced with Rethread pieces over the years. As our brand has grown, the volume of requests has grown too, and it has become important for us to streamline this process to protect our stock, our team’s time, and ensure that collaborations are intentional and mutually beneficial.

Please review the policy below before submitting any sourcing requests.

Terms & Conditions

1. PERSONAL PROJECTS & TEST SHOOTS

(Non-commercial, personal, portfolio, student, or unpaid shoots)

We are no longer able to offer APRO or rentals for personal projects or test shoots.

If you’d like to feature Rethread pieces, items may be purchased at full price and returned under our standard return policy.
Please note:

  • Returns are not guaranteed and must pass a full quality check.
  • Item must be unworn, unaltered, and in re-sellable condition.
  • Return shipping and handling fees are the responsibility of the customer.

2. COMMERCIAL PRODUCTIONS (TVCs, Campaigns, Advertising Work)

For commercial productions, we offer:

Rental for Fittings:

20% of the retail price per garment for fittings.

If the item is used:

The remaining 80% of the retail value must be paid within 48 hours.

Additional notes:

  • A maximum of 6 items can be rented for a fitting at a time, any additional items will be charged at full price. 
  • Rental fees are non-refundable, even if the item is not used.
  • Any items returned damaged, stained, or altered must be purchased at full retail price.
  • Courier and return fees are the responsibility of the stylist/production team.

3. EDITORIAL PULLS (Approved Publications Only)

Editorial loans are available only for:

  • Verified printed publications
  • Select reputable digital publications (case-by-case)

To qualify, the following must be attached to your request:

  • Editorial brief
  • Moodboard
  • A letter or email from the publication confirming the feature

Requirements:

  • Items must be credited appropriately.
  • Proof of publication must be provided once released.
  • Garments must be returned within 48 hours.
  • Courier costs covered by stylist.
  • Items must be returned clean, undamaged, and ready for resale.
  • Any damaged items will be charged at full retail price.

4. PR, EVENTS & GIFTING REQUESTS

Due to capacity and the difficulty in measuring impact, we no longer offer PR pulls or loan garments for events, appearances, or personal wear.

PR gifting or dressing is available only when initiated by the Rethread team.

5. HOW TO SUBMIT A REQUEST

Please email bella@rethread.store with the following details:

For editorials:

  • Moodboard
  • Editorial brief
  • Confirmation letter/email from publication
  • Shoot, collection & return dates
  • Model sizes
  • Team list
  • Requested items

For commercial shoots:

  • Project overview
  • Company details
  • Shoot, fitting, collection & return dates
  • Model sizes
  • Requested items

Personal projects and test shoots do not qualify for sourcing

6. APPROVAL & COLLECTION PROCESS

Once reviewed and approved:

  • You will receive a link to book both a collection appointment and a return appointment.
  • No walk-ins or drop-ins are permitted, as they disrupt showroom and client appointments.
  • By booking, you agree to our updated sourcing terms.

7. RETURNS, LATE FEES & CONDITIONS

  • Items must be returned on the agreed date and time.
  • A late fee of R100 per day applies for late returns.
  • Returns more than 7 days late will be charged at full retail price.
  • All items must be returned clean, steamed, and undamaged unless otherwise arranged.

8. IMPORTANT REMINDERS

  • We require a minimum of 48 hours’ notice for all sourcing requests.
  • All approved editorials must share finalized content with our team.
  • Any items that do not pass quality check upon return will be charged at full retail price.
  • Rethread reserves the right to decline any sourcing request.
